SUSPENSE

In countless thrilling stories, the most memorable parts are usually unresolved. Just like all things extraordinary, they come by chance. And because of the unknown, because of the suspense, because of the open ending, our imaginations roam free. Such is life, and so is space. Oftentimes, what is imperfect and unfinished are not necessarily full of regret; it has simply planted a seed and looks to the future, where possibilities will multiply.

We came up with the idea of observing how humans and their pets interact and share through our design. Through a deeper narrative we wanted to diverge from a fixed structure. When there are no rules and the style changes from one to another, you won’t find neat rows and the focal point will stray from tidy wall lines. Without grandeur and dominant materials, only base materials are used, such as wood, bricks, paint, metal sheets. These are used to lower the color temperature to accentuate the depth of the window view, and softens the angles and brings out a tranquil atmosphere. Occasionally the cat leaps joyously up and down, a movement that always intrigues and doesn’t get boring.

The public space is tidy with minimal signs of occupation, and benefits from a humble continuous board which stores and hides many functions. The TV column is designed to be situated on the left side of the space, it is light and insignificant, but the 180-degree angle demands attention when the screen and sound is on and connects to the outside world. The wooden shelf that is suspended from the ceiling is delicate and simple, and can be used as storage, as display, and can be climbed upon. In another corner, there is a soft seat perfect for curling up in, where you can spend some quality time alone for self-healing. The clouds and lights float by the window, gazing silently and lovingly at the thick sofa on the other side.
